[ALASKA-WWII] Photograph album depicting sporting and military activity near Kodiak, Alaska during WWII.
A circa 1940s oblong decorated leather photograph album, 9 x 11 inches (23 x 28 cm). The album with about 80 photographs in varying sizes mounted at the corners to the black album sheets. The photographs are 5 x 7 inches (13 x 18 cm) or smaller. Some detached or lacking photographs, some leaves becoming disbound, some wear to upper extremity of final leaves and rear cover.

An interesting album of activities at and near the U.S. Army and Navy bases at Kodiak, Alaska during World War II. The album opens with the 1943 Christmas greeting composite photograph depicting naval officers. The album continues with scenes around Kodiak, images of bears and fish, a baseball game on the base, portraits of soldiers in gear, etc. Laid-in is a picture postcard panorama of Kodiak in four panels. A fascinating glimpse into this Pacific base.
