Martin Brothers Stoneware Grotesque Figural Spoon Warmer
1882
Modeled as a winged grotesque animal in seated pose, with a pushed in face, open contorted mouth and sideways glance, inscribed R. W. Martin, London & Southall, 20-9-82. Height 4 5/8 inches, width 6 1/2 inches.

appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; not black lighted
Updated Condition Report:
blacklighted; blacklight reveals professional restoration to the animal's lower lip area, approximately 1 3/4 inches in length across, not readily apparent to the naked eye; presents well; blacklight also reveals traces of yellow fluorescence in the crevices of the eye sockets, presumably due to "crud" or old dirt deposit
