Surveyed and laid into lots in the year 1788 by Casimir Th Goerck City Surveyor taken from a copy by Ch. Colles November 1807 by Adolphus Loss City Surveyor taken from the copy of A. Loss March 1821 by Geo. B Smith.
Manuscript survey map in ink and colors on joined sheets of paper. The map is backed. 25 x 37 inches (65 x 95 cm). Split at fold, losses affecting border and elsewhere, later markings within image.
A large copy made in 1821 of a 1788 Casimir Goerck plan of lands owned by Nicholas Bayard. An interesting feature of the map is the updated street names provided alongside the old, for instance on the map "Wooster late Third formerly Provoost Street." The map reaches at north west from Hancock Street (formerly Eighth Street) to Broad Way (formerly Great George Street) and offers a long stretch of Amity Lane. Lands to the west are indicated as those belonging to Widow Barclay, Leonard Lispenard, and Church land.
