GOERCK, CASIMIR THEODOR Crown Point Street.
Manuscript survey map in ink on paper, with "New York October 15th 1796/Casimir Th Goerck/City Surveyor" in ink at lower right. 14 x 17 inches (36 x 43 cm). The map is backed. Losses along extremities and within the image affecting some lettering, dust soiling and stains, later markings within the image.
A short stretch of the original Crown Point Street, from the recently laid-out Montgomery to Scammel Streets. The map presents the lands of early residents named Romaine, Governeur, Janeway, and the East River facing property of a Peter de la Biabre (?). A street heading north from Crown Point is named General Green Street and a rope walk on the Janeway property is represented.
