The Benares Edition, limited to 1000 copies. 17 volumes. Publisher's black cloth, stamped in gilt and in silver, top edge gilt. 9 1/4 x 6 inches (23.75 x 15.75 cm); frontispieces. Light rubbing, fading and wear to bindings, sliver and gilt on spines a bit dulled; WHITTIER, JOHN GREENLEAF. The Poetical Works... Boston: The Riverside Press for Houghton, Mifflin and Company, 1892. Number 534 of 750 sets. 9 volumes. Original gilt parchment spine, gilt red silk over boards, top edge gilt. Frontispieces and plates. Soiling and wear to bindings, with some losses to cloth along spines and edges, contents bright; HOUSMAN, LAURENCE and DULAC, EDMUND. Stories from the Arabian Nights. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1907. Blue calf spine and corners with blue cloth boards, gilt spine, top edge gilt. Color printed frontispiece and plates after Edmund Dulac; GIBBS, PHILIP. England Speaks.; and three related titles by the same author, all published by Doubleday, Doran & Company, 1936-38. Blue calf spines and corners, decorative blue and white printed paper over boards, spine gilt, top edge gilt. Spines sunned, moderate edgewear, one volume with a stain to the front board. The lot comprises about 30 volumes in total, sold as is.
