NEW YORK, NY -- Following the success of our inaugural Entertaining with Style auction, Doyle's second Entertaining with Style auction on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 saw competitive bidding from hundreds of buyers across the US and abroad. This exciting auction category showcases an array of stylish items to inspire gracious entertaining at home, including delicate crystal and porcelain for the table, silver flatware, candlesticks and serving pieces, barware and furniture.

Highlighting the sale was an extensive sterling silver Des Must flatware service by Cartier from the Alice Kwartler Collection that achieved $15,120, far surpassing its $7,000-10,000 estimate. This distinctive pattern offers sophisticated contemporary style with gold accents.

The sale featured numerous porcelain dinner services for all tastes. A Haviland Limoges Matignon service from a North Shore Residence decorated by Stephen Sills soared past its estimate of $700-900 to realize a stunning $10,710. The highly decorative Matignon pattern is a reissue, having been originally introduced in 1880.

Sets of twelve sterling silver place card holders performed very strongly in the sale, perhaps signaling the return of dining in the grand style. A set of twelve shell-form place card holders by Tiffany & Co. sold for $4,775, and another leaf-form set of twelve, also by Tiffany & Co., realized $3,780, each far exceeding their $1,000-2,000 estimates.
