New York: Duffield and Company, 1928. First edition, warmly inscribed by the author to Miss Gladys Pickford in 1933. Publisher's red cloth, gilt. 8 x 5 3/4 inches (20 x 14.5 cm); [6], 250 pp., frontispiece and plates after photographs. Light wear to extremities, spine ends softened, spine a bit dull, endpapers toned, pale spotting to plates.
John Cudahy was a Wisconsin real estate developer, author, and U.S. diplomat, having served as ambassador to Poland and Belgium, as well as minister to Luxembourg and the Irish Free State. Notably, he interviewed Hitler in 1941 for Life Magazine, and later wrote a book about the experience. He published two books about his hunting escapades, this one about California and Mexico, and another on Africa. This work contains a chapter on wild mountain sheep.
