Comprises Game Trails from Alaska to Africa. [Philadelphia: privately printed, 1938]. Limited deluxe edition of 50 copies, this copy unnumbered, presentation inscription from the author. Publisher's brown pictorial morocco gilt. 9 x 6 3/8 inches (22.25 x16 cm); xiii, [1], 180, [2], 56 pp.; frontispiece and plates after photographs, maps, half-title, limitation page. Light wear to extremities some losses to gilding on spine, contents faintly toned; together with [idem]. My African Safari. East Aurora: [Privately printed for the author] by the Roycrofters, 1937. First edition. Publisher's brown faux leather over thin boards, lettered in gilt. 7 3/4 x 5 1/4 inches (17 x 13.5 cm); 34, [2] ff.; frontispiece map, five double-sided plates. Minute wear, spine a bit toned, overall a fine copy, Carpenter's Christmas card laid in.
Two scarce safari accounts, both limited editions, with only about 25 copies of "My African Safari" printed at the Roycroft Shop. Carpenter, an owner of the Philadelphia Phillies, was a noted big game hunter and an influential member of the Boone and Crockett Club. Czech African Hunting p. 56 and p. 55. (2)
