Small period bookplate.
"Printed at the Little Shop among the Maples at Beautiful Brandon, Vermont, where Woodruff, the Printer, does things with type." A very ephemeral Arts and Crafts style publication; Woodruff was J.E. Woodruff, whose work was favorably reviewed by The Inland Printer the same year. This scarce little publication was probably written by him, though no author is named. It consists of a series of verses primarily directed to trout fishermen (of which the author was clearly one), in vaguely Rubaiyatian quatrains. Coarse fishing is also covered in the final verse directed to "The kid that digs the worms." Seemingly unrecorded in the standard bibliographies, no copies that we can locate at auction or retail, and only two locations on ESTC.
