A faint horizontal scratch in dark blue pigment at center left. Scattered light rubs to edges, with faint rubs to all four corners. A faint rub at upper left in dark blue pigment. A light rub to upper center in lighter blue pigment near edge. A few very faint areas of paint separation in dark blue pigment at upper center and upper right. Updated 5/16 dark blue pigment appears somewhat cloudy and uneven in natural light, though appears even under UV light. Two restorers who have viewed the work believe this to be due to the original pigments used and how they have aged over time, as the artist was known to experiment with new techniques and materials. The restorers have recommended a light cleaning.
