Thomas King Williams (1783-1823) was born in Salem, Massachusetts, son of Thomas and Eleanor (Broughton) Williams. He was the grandson of Com. N. Broughton and Deacon William Williams. His parents were married at Salem on June 30, 1779. Thomas King Williams died September 8, 1823 in New Orleans. A larger painting of the subject by John Vanderlyn is owned by the Marblehead Museum, Massachusetts.
