Paris: The Hours Press, 1930. First edition, an out of series copy from the edition of 300. Printed orange card wrappers, housed in a modern slipcase and chemise. 9 x 5 1/2 inches (22.75 x 14 cm); 4 ff. Lower edge of front wrapper faded or dust-soiled, with small loss to the corners, lacking the rare wraparound band..

Prepared for Nancy Cunard's competition for the best poem on the subject of time, this was Beckett's first separately published work, issued by Cunard's Hours Press. It was written in haste, finished at three on the morning of the deadline, and mailed to meet the competition deadline. It won the author ten pounds.
