Washington: 1839. Engraved map with hand-color in outline on two sheets joined, folded and housed in a morocco backed case. Opens to approximately 40 x 30 inches (102 x 38 cm) with wider margins. A few punctures at fold points and short splits to ends, light handling creases, very clean overall with some toning and spotting to edges and verso.

A very large, scarce map of Florida prepared at the time of the Second Seminole War. The map contains a great deal of information on Army forts, Seminole villages, vegetation and hydrology, and a large network of roads and trails. Battlefields are marked with crossed swords. Hand-coloring is used to delineate the District assigned to the Seminoles by the Arrangement of Gen. Macomb on May 18, 1839.
