French, 1930s
Floor length, falling in voluminous folds from tight gathers at top, with puffed and ruched collar, the mauve silk velvet stenciled in gold and silver with Renaissance interlocking branch, crown and palmette pomegranate pattern, the satin lining sparsely stenciled with palmette motif, braided cord tie ending with tassels of Venetian glass beads, signed in lining: Maria Monaci Gallenga.
Overall fading, faint discolored areas, numerous small holes in velvet, some splitting under collar.
