Gene Baro, introd., Claes Oldenburg Drawings and Prints, 1969, no. 6, illus. p.27
This drawing is one of the studies for paintings made of Pat Muschinski, later to become Oldenburg's wife. The artist described her movements as rapid and linear, and my drawings changed ...to an attempt to realize deep space by a tonal line. I settled on a grease crayon as the best instrument for realizing light-space through line.
