New York, Zabriskie Gallery, Enrico Donati: Surrealist Paintings and Objects from the Forties, Jan. 20-Feb. 28, 1987, no. 12A
Donati is considered to be a member of Surrealism's last generation. He met Andre Breton in New York, who championed his work and even created titles for many of the paintings. According to Carter Ratcliff, in Art in America, May 1989, Donati's designs of 1947-48 look 'like an engineer's designs for equipment to be used in an imaginary laboratory.'
Estate of James E. Robison
