Empire Gilt-Bronze Mounted Mahogany Side Cabinet
Gamichon a Paris, early 19th century
The gray marble top above a conforming case enclosing a frieze drawer and two panel inset doors, each mounted with winged mythological figural applique flanked by caryatids, opening to reveal six full drawers, raised on paw feet. Height 54 1/2 inches (1.38 m), width 57 1/4 inches (145.5 m), depth 21 1/2 inches (55 cm).
Jean Baptiste Gamichon is a little known maker who started work at the beginning of the Empire Period, died in 1832.
