Additional Notes & Condition Report

Please note this lot is framed. Glue relined; canvas is taped down along edges. Stretcher marks visible. Streaky inpaint throughout background. 1/2" circular spot of inpaint in wig just to right of subject's lip. Spots of inpaint on his left hand and in area just above hand, and in lower right corner of scroll at edge of painting. 1 1/2" square area of repair in upper right quadrant, possibly a mended Y-shaped tear 4-inches in length.

Darkest areas have been reinforced with inpaint; namely his hairline and outer contour of the wig, the area just below the fringe on the lower edge of his coat, the area surrounding his right hand and the scroll-shaped arm of the chair, area in lower right corner and along left edge.

Fine craquelure scattered throughout, commensurate with age of painting. Also, very faint horizontal cracks throughout, possibly a result of canvas being rolled at some point.
