A lifetime cast of this voluptuous nude torso by Gaston Lachaise is known to have been made by early 1928. The present example is very closely comparable to the posthumous cast owned by The Metropolitan Museum of Art (Torso, 1928, bronze, Gift of Carl D. Lobell, 1998, acc. 1998.280.1, rep. Tolles, Thayer, ed. American Sculpture in The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 2001. Vol. 2 cat. no. 322, p. 686).
