The two volumes of the first great work on aerostation: the first bound in contemporary mottled calf, the second in the original publisher's marbled wrappers. Volume I: 7 3/4 inches (20 cm); xl, 299, (3) (4) pp. [the rare Supplement], with 9 plates at the rear. Volume II: 8 1/2 inches (21 cm); title leaf, 366 pp., with final leaf of errata, and five plates (including the frontispiece). Some wear to the fragile wrappers, spine partially stripped.
