. London: Cassell & Co., n.d. (but with a slip laid next to the half-title in the first volume, stating that this is one of a special issue of 485 copies issued by the Waverly Book Co.). Two volumes, original Victorian pebbled calf gilt, all edges gilt. 15 x 11 1/8 inches (37 x 25 cm); 136 engravings in the Old Testament, 21 in the Apocrypha, and 81 in the New Testament. Some wear to bindings, some foxing at beginning and end.
Dore's most extensive illustrated book, and arguably his masterpiece.
