Paris: chez l'auteur, rue des Noyers [and others], 1765. 19th century half calf, marbled sides. 16 x 10 3/4 inches (41 x 27 cm); [4], 232, [2] pp., with 57 engraved plates, of which fourteen are double page and ten folding. Binding rather rubbed but sound, scattered light foxing and toning, the plates generally clean but with minor marginal worming towards the end, not affecting text or image. This copy has the leaf at the end with errata, the plate list etc.
An important book pertaining to French city planning, which includes proposals for what is today the Place de la Concorde. The text touches on issues such as clean air and water, preservation of ancient buildings and other aspects of urban planning that are surprisingly modern in their concerns.
