. Portsmouth: Daniel Fowle, 1761. An uncut copy in contemporary marbled wrappers (as issued?), housed in custom red morocco clamshell case. 12 1/2 x 7 1/4 inches (32.5 x 19 cm); [2-title], [xii-table], 240 pp., retains blanks, collating pi1 A-C^(2) chi^(2) ^(2)C^(2) D-U^(2) W^(2) X-2U^(2) 2W^(2) 2X-3N^(2). Some spotting and creased leaves, minor chipping or short tears to extremities, generally a very clean and original copy.
An early New Hampshire legal imprint by Fowle, New Hampshire's first printer, who arrived from Boston in 1756. The typography in this work is most attractive, with much creative use made of ornament. Evans 8943; Sabin 52782; Whittemore New Hampshire 50.
