The text volumes uncut and retaining most original front and rear wrappers (lacks two front and one rear wrapper) and bound in modern brown cloth with black spine labels; the atlas disbound and housed and in a folding leather backed case. Text volumes 8.5 x 5 inches (21.5 x 12.5 cm); atlas 20 1/4 x 13 1/4 inches (51.5 x 34 cm). The atlas with half-title, title, portrait, folding map and 60 (of 62) sheets of plates, several folding or with multiple illustrations on one sheet. Atlas disbound and with marginal repairs in tissue and some paper replacement, other wear and stains, some losses to wrappers of text volumes, toning and spotting.
This is considered the most comprehensive edition of Chardin.
