. Haguenau: Heinrich Gran for Johann Rynman, 1507. [BOUND WITH] Sermo[n]es Quadragesimales Pomerii fratris Pelbarti de Themeswar, diui ordinis sancti Fracisci. Haguenau: Heinrich Gran for Johann Rynman, 1507. Worn panelled calf of the period, retaining portions of clasps. 11 x 8 inches (28 x 20 cm); the first 233 ff. (of 234), lacking blank, the second 95 ff. (of 96) lacking terminal blank. Collation on request. Spine mostly present but defective, covers scuffed, generally a fairly clean copy but with some toning, especially to the second volume, finger-soil throughout, annotations early hands etc. Very early initialled inscription in French on front pastedown, neat 17th century monastic inscription on first title, later monastic ownership stamp to two preliminary leaves, and bookplate of a defunct Baltimore monastic library on the front pastedown.
A scarce post-incunable (the same printers produced a 1499 edition and several other works by the same author) of the sermons of this Hungarian Franciscan preacher, died 1504. A popular theological work, there were nine editions before 1520.
