Didymoceras Stevensoni Ammonite
Pierre Shale Formation, Wyoming, Cretaceous age
Perhaps the rarest of this species, also referred to as a heteromorph and usually the pinnacle of an ammonite collection. The calcite barite nodule from which it was extracted creats a natural display base. Possibly extinct due to its poor aerodynamic design with multiple irregular coils causing slow swiming and therefore making it easy prey. Height 9 inches. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
