Group of Five Chinese Snuff Bottles
Qing Dynasty and later
Comprising a celadon and russet jade of pebble form, carved through the chestnut skin depicting a stylized dragon, the stone an even tone; a brown quartz example naturalistically carved in the form of a gourd issuing curling and leafy tendrils; a smokey crystal of rounded rectangular form, raised on a low oval foot, carved in relief to one side with a carp leaping from turbulent waves beneath a flaming pearl highlighted with an inlayed quartz bead, the reverse incised with pine; an agate example of gourd form, carved through the brown area of the stone depicting a grasshopper, peapods and double gourd all atop a large leaf; an agate bottle of cylindrical form with metal mounting on the base and neck, carved through the dark brown inclusions depicting a bird and flowers. Height of tallest 2 5/8 inches.
