Swedish Neoclassical Mahogany and Parcel-Gilt Pier Mirror attributed to Pehr Gustaf Bylander
Circa 1815
The rectangular mirror plate within a frame surmounted by a triangular pediment on leaf-carved volutes interspersed with flowerhead roundels, above a mask of Mercury flanked by scroll carved capitals and continuing to a base with acroteria, the projecting sides mounted with stars over lion's head-carved fasces, on a molded plinth. Height 8 feet 5 inches (2.56 m), width 46 1/2 inches (1.18 m), depth 10 inches (25.3 cm).
