Baltic Neoclassical Gilt-Metal Mounted Mahogany Bureau Plat and Cartonnier
Early 19th century
The stepped rectangular superstructure with canted fluted corners centering a drawer above a retractable slide opening to an interior fitted with a pedimented central drawer and a recess with engaged pilasters and flanked by graduated drawers, the leather-lined rectangular top over three freize drawers opposed by false drawers, raised on tapering square legs. Height of bureau plat with cartonnier 50 1/2 inches (1.28 m), height of bureau plat 30 1/4 inches (78.8 cm), width 65 inches (1.65), depth 33 inches (83.8 cm).
