George III Mahogany Longcase Clock
Late 18th century
The silvered dial signed Henry Higginbotham MACCLESFIELD, the two-train movement with four pillars and anchor escapement, the arched dial with painted phases of the moon, the hood with swan's neck pediment centered by a cabochon above an arched glazed door flanked by fluted columns, the shaped case door flanked by fluted quarter columns, the base with rusticated corners and raised on shaped bracket feet. Height 98 inches (249 cm), width 23 1/2 inches (60 cm), depth 10 1/2 inches (26.7 cm).
