London: Hurst & Blackett, Ltd., [1935]. First English edition. Publisher's cloth in dust jacket. 9 x 5 7/8 inches; 288, 16 pp.; plates after photographs, publisher's advertisements. Jacket foxed and toned with losses to extremities, cloth tips bumped, scattered foxing throughout.
Original published as Africa Ruft! in 1933 and translated by K. S. Shelvankar. "A German big game hunter, Freyburg traveled through Nigeria, the Belgian Congo, Angola and Gabon. While this is primarily a work of travel, adventures and observations, there are several hunting vignettes. He bagged elephant near the Loango River, crocodiles on the River Cuanza in Angola, and buffalo in the Congo. His guide was killed by a wounded buffalo during one hunt" (Czech).
