SIGGINS, A. J. Man-Killers I Have Known.
[London]: Wright & Brown, [1933]. First edition. Publisher's blue cloth. 8 7/8 x 5 5/8 inches; [vi], 312 pp.; frontispiece and plates after photographs, half-title. Spine lightly sunned, spine ends bumped, lightly and evenly toned throughout.
"Siggins recounts hunting lions in Rhodesia, both lion and leopards in Mozambique, plus encounters with hippopotamus and crocodiles as well. Near the Rovuma River, elephants and buffalo were bagged. Hunting the big cats, however, captured Siggins' attention the most: 'It is a fascinating business to hunt man-killers and in comparison shooting big buck or even elephant is tame sport.' He ultimately admits that the mosquito was the biggest man killer in Africa" (Czech). Czech, Africa, p. 256.
