London: H. F. & G. Witherby, 1934. First edition. Publisher's cloth in dust jacket. 8 5/8 x 5 3/8 inches; 224 pp.; folding map, frontispiece, plates, half-title. Jacket generally worn with losses and a ring to upper panel, cloth ends bumped, minor foxing to prelims.
"The author traveled to Nigeria in the late 1920s, visiting tin mines and native tribes before embarking on an elephant and buffalo hunt in the Ningi Forest. On a second trip in 1929, he stalked elephant near Ewu, then was back in 1931, hunting buffalo and elephant in the Annam Forest near the Niger River. He felt sportsmen were missing a good hunting area in West Africa due to the lure of the great game fields of eastern Africa" (Czech). Czech, Africa, p. 255.
