[ENGLISH ROYALTY] CAROLINE of BRUNSWICK, Princess of Wales. Autograph letter signed.
[South End:] 18 May 1804. Three-page autograph letter signed "Caroline" on a bifolium, addressed to Viscount Melville, with postscript in her hand, 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches (23 x 18.5 cm). Folds with splits at ends, margins toned, tape repair to horizontal fold on verso not affecting text.
Caroline of Brunswick was Princess of Wales at the time of writing and later Queen Consort to King George IV. This letter warmly congratulates Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville, on his appointment as First Lord of the Admiralty: "I feel myself quite proud to give a fair opportunity to your Lordship to reward the courage, fortitude, & zeal of a British naval officer..."
