[SPAIN] ISABELLA I of Castile, Queen of Spain. Document signed "Yo la Reyna".
Dated October 3, 1499, the body written in Spanish in a fine secretarial hand, brown ink on paper with a watermark of a glove and six-pointed star. Single leaf, two pages, 7 1/2 x 8 3/4 inches (19 x 22 cm), page one five lines, an order from the Queen to her Chamberlain, Sancho de Paredes, instructing him to remit moneys he has received to Alonso de Morales, the Royal Treasurer, countersigned by Isabella's secretary, Gaspar de Trizio; page two is a detailed receipt, stating the nature of the coinage received (doblas, reals, maravedís etc.), and their number, this signed by Vazques de Palma, an official in the Office of the Treasury. Once folded into fourths, age soiling on one quarter of the receipt portion where folded (not affecting legibility) overall in excellent condition.
An interesting document, signed by Isabella I, who sponsored Columbus's voyage to the New World (after he had been turned down by kings of Portugal, France, and England).
