Manuscript game book on pre-printed forms, compiled 1887-1921. Half dark green leather, cloth sides with cover label on the upper cover. 9 x 12 7/8 inches; approximately 50 ff. completed in a neat hand, with a number of very competent watercolors of game birds, mounted photographs of hunts etc. Light wear, front hinge weak at the endpaper.
Pinckney did some hunting in India for big game, but mostly hunted small game in the British Isles (from one entry, he appears to have done some falconry). One entry is for a day's hunting in Sumatra; it is likely that J.R.H. Pinckney had interest in rubber plantations there; there is a Pinckney with those initials noted as a director of a firm with extensive Sumatran holdings.
