Comprises Galapagos. World's End. New York and London: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1924. First edition, the author's autograph edition, one of 100 copies, this copy 45 signed by Beebe. Publisher's white cloth with vellum corners, in dust-jacket. 11 x 8 inches (28 x 20 cm); xxiv, 444 pp., with portrait, nine color plates by Isabel Cooper, map and 82 monochrome illustrations. Jacket a trifle soiled and sunned, internally hinges starting to crack at the pictorial endpapers, but in all an attractive and robust copy; together with The Arcturus Adventure. New York and London: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1926. First edition, the author's autograph edition, one of 50 copies, this copy 9 signed by Beebe. Publisher's decorated paper with vellum spine. 11 x 8 inches (28 x 20 cm); xx, 440 pp., with eight color plates and 69 monochrome illustrations. Lacking jacket, spine toned, sides unevenly sunned.
An appealing set of Beebe's two great voyage books in the rare deluxe editions on French handmade paper. Also included in the lot is a set of the two-volume American edition of his work on the pheasants (somewhat worn).
