French First Standard Silver Bowl
Henri Gauthier, Paris, early 20th century
Circular bombe-form on ring foot, the body with part chased foliate base, with chased band of entwined foliage, the rim with repeating husks and berries. Diameter 4 1/4 inches, approximately 10 ounces.
French silver is a different quality than English and American silver with the First Standard (as this piece) at .950 standard which is higher than sterling standard which is .925.
