[FORE-EDGE PAINTING-EROTIC] SCOTT, WALTER. The Lay of the Last Minstrel.
London: Longman [etc.], 1810. Period vellum gilt in later slipcase, with a three-sided "panorama" style concealed fore-edge painting (i.e. top-, fore-, and bottom-edge) of amorous scenes. 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches; 351 pp. Light wear and soiling to binding.
We suspect a bad pun between the fore-edge subject and the title of the work. Such wraparound fore-edge paintings are quite uncommon.
