George III Satinwood-Inlaid Mahogany Serpentine Chest
Circa 1780
The crossbanded top inlaid with an oval centered by a patera, the case with canted corners above scrolled stiles centering four graduated drawers, raised on bracket feet. Height 35 inches (88.9 cm), width 54 1/2 inches (138.5 cm), depth 25 3/4 inches (65.4 cm).

Previous restorations, sunfading, age cracks to top and sides, marks and scratches, both side edges of top with dovetails protruding under veneers, now with some tearing, patches to top across age cracks at cente, left front corner with 4" molding off but present, losses and replacements to veneers, old worm damage to back feet, canted stiles possibly veneered in sabicu; bottom drawer now lacking bottom right corner and crossbanding.
