Publisher's russet cloth (Carter's variant "B"), housed in a cloth slipcase. 8 x 4 1/2 inches; [4-ads at front], [vi], 364, 16 pp. publisher's catalogue at end. An attractive copy with minor soiling to cloth and rubbing to corners, the front hinge cracked after the front free endpaper, foxing to edges, first leaves and intermittently throughout.

A good copy in original cloth of George Eliot's third novel.
