[FINE BINDING] BERNARDIN DE SAINT-PIERRE. Paul et Virginie.
Paris: Librairie Artistique, 1887. Illustrated de Maurice Leloir. Number 3 of 50 copies with an original signed watercolor by Leloir to the half-title and the plates in four states (one set on Satin). Sumptuously bound in full red morocco by E. Lortic, the covers tooled in gilt and with green morocco inlays to the corners, the spine tooled and lettered in gilt with raised bands, green morocco doublures, watered silk and marbled endpapers, all edges gilt, the original wrappers bound-in, slipcase. 11 1/4 x 7 1/2 inches; 208 pp., with a watercolor at front and the plates in four states as noted, with an additional suite of plates at end. The spine slightly darkened and with some rubbing and small losses along joints, the slipcase in need of replacement.
A very fine presentation with an original watercolor, the prints on satin and in multiple states and in a luxurious binding.
