Minton Majolica Cobalt-Blue Ground Mistletoe and Holly 'Christmas Jug'

Impressed uppercase mark, indistinct raised registry diamond, shape no. 580/24, black painted B
Thistle shaped with an entwined angular branch handle, the spout molded with a bearded mask, the neck with berried mistletoe above a gadrooned collar, the body with berried holly, on a circular foot, height 6 1/4 inches; Together with a Eureka Pottery Majolica Yellow-Ground 'Merry Xmas and Happy New Year' Plate. Circa1883-87, twice impressed uppercase mark / Trenton black painted X or 4, the center with a small brown bird carrying a ribbon-tied yuletide greeting card above branches of berried briar and holly, reserved on a pebbled ground, the basketweave border enriched in cobalt-blue and manganese, diameter 9 1/2 inches.
