London: Richard Bentley and Sons, 1883. First edition. Two volumes, publisher's blue cloth. 7 1/2 x 5 inches (18.5 x 12 cm); xi, 272 pp.; iv, 250 pp., 6 pp. ads; both volumes with frontispieces and 3 plates. Light wear, both volumes with a slight lean, corners bumped, internally clean.
Phillipps-Wolley was the British vice-consul at Ketch on the Black Sea, and an ardent sportsman. Czech Asia p. 161 (noting a variant binding).
