London: Country Life Limited, [1938]. First edition. Publisher's green cloth in dust jacket. 11 x 8 1/4 inches (28 x 21 cm); xi, 115 pp.; color frontispiece, illustrations after pen and ink drawings, plates after photographs, half-title. Jacket creased, with several losses.
This appears to have been John Masters' first published work, long preceding The Nightrunners of Bengal (1951) and Bhowani Junction, the latter probably his best-known work.
