N.p. [but Turnworth?]: privately printed, [circa 1906]. First edition. Modern half morocco, marbled sides. 7 1/4 x 4 3/4 inches (18.5 x 12 cm); 193, [1] pp.; mounted photographic frontispiece portrait. Endpapers browned, offsetting from frontispiece to title page.
Uncommon, with no auction records traced (other than one other copy from the Johnson collection, sold by us), and only four copies listed in WorldCat. "A British civil servant, Okeden kept a detailed journal of his sporting adventures spanning two decades in the area between Agra and Calcutta. This is an extensive record of hunting tigers, sambur, cheetal, and other game in the region, all with muzzle-loading guns. A rare and excellent portrait of game shooting before the Great Mutiny" (Czech, apparently this copy). Czech, Asia, p. 153.
