[MASSACHUSETTS] The remains of a collection.
Comprises a manuscript commission appointing Benjamin Prescott as a Justice of the Peace, January 2, 1735, signed by Jonathan Belcher as Governor Some separation at folds; a second example, dated 26 December, 1727, signed by William Dummer. First page separated at horizontal fold, lower (presumably blank) portion of the second page lacking; a cover sheet with a free frank signed twice by Daniel Webster; a selection of secretarially signed notes, true copies, etc.; a selection of legal instruments, personal letters etc. 1730s on; a 19th century tanning patent by Walter Russell, written on vellum; two appointments for James Prescott, signed by Increase Sumner as governor (defective at folds); another for Prescott, signed by William Hutchinson (also separated at folds); two indentures (one English, one America); three small printed maps with the ownership inscription of S. J. Prescott; and several other documents. Sold with all faults, not subject to return.
