[MAP--MANUSCRIPT] Manuscript World Map.
A manuscript double-hemisphere map of the world on thick paper in ink and colors, circa 1832, with title cartouche "Map of the World/Martha L. Fulton." The map with a hand-stitched edging in green silk and backed to a contemporary newspaper broadsheet with 1832 dates. Overall 14 1/4 x 22 1/4 inches (36 x 57 cm). A few minor punctures, some toned and faded areas, creases, and spotting.

A well-rendered manuscript world map by a female maker. The newspaper on the back, a broadsheet of The New York Observer, dates to 1832 and offers an excerpt of Washington Irving's The Alhambra and a long report of an insurrection in Jamaica.
