This is the map volume only from Report on the Trade and Commerce of the British North American Colonies, 1853. Original gilt lettered cloth, stamped "Senate Document" in blind on the rear cover. 9 x 1/2 x 6 inches (24 x 16 cm); with four large folding maps. A few spots to covers, one map detached and laid-in, the Railroad map roughly opened on one margin and with tears at mount and split panels, others with a few splits or punctures, generally well preserved large folding maps.

The maps comprise: Map of the eastern portion of British North America including the Gulf of St. Lawrence, and part of the New England States, 1853, opening to about 25 x 45 inches, this the map detached from binding; Map of the Railroads in the United States in operation and progress to accompany a report from the Treasury Department by Israel D. Andrews, 1853; Map of the Straits of Florida and Gulf of Mexico,1852, opens to about 26 x 34 inches; and Map of the Basin of the St. Lawrence showing also the natural and artificial routes between the Atlantic Ocean and the interior of North America, 1853, on four sheets joined opening to about 34 x 75 inches, a very large and attractive map. The Railroad map offers inset views of Texas & Florida.
