Period brown calf, all edges speckled red. 13 3/4 x 8 7/8 inches (35 x 22.5 cm); viii, 4 pp. subscriber list, 192 pp. Rebacked to style, boards a bit scuffed and bumped and subsequently well restored, subscriber list a bit foxed but generally a clean copy internally. Bookplate of Esme Nicoll.
This work was published posthumously from the diary of the clergyman and antiquary Edmund Chishull. It contains accounts of his journeys to Ionia, the Troas, Constantinople, Adrianople and Ephesus, and of his return to England, made through Wallachia and Hungary. Chishull was chaplain to the English Levant Company's trading center ("factory") in Smyrna from 1698 to 1702. Atabey 240; Blackmer 341; ESTC T150186.
